Infineon´s flexible portfolio of automotive qualified LIN alternator regulator ICs complies with various LIN specifications (incl. VDA) and helps to simplify design.
Infineon’s monolithic alternator control ICs are designed for the voltage control of 12V automotive multi-phase alternators. The regulators are AEC-Q100 qualified and tailored to withstand the harsh conditions of the automotive environment. Their standard LIN interface enables a communication with an Engine-Management or Energy-Management ECU (LIN 1.3 / LIN 2.1 / LIN 2.2). By using free-adjustable parameters, the regulators are able to operate even without any communication interface.
The family is compliant to various LIN alternator regulator specifications (incl. VDA) and thus qualified and released by many OEMs.
The output driver stage consists of a High-Side DMOS for up to 12A excitation current. All products provide 8kV ESD protection. The EEPROM with adjustable parameters offers a customization of the alternator to the specific OEM or application needs.
The TLE8881-2, latest addition to the Infineon LIN alternator regulator IC family, builds upon the success of the existing ICs (TLE8880, TLE8881, TLE8886) while also offering several advantages:
Easy switch
Flexibility
Enhanced regulation behavior
Infineon’s monolithic alternator control ICs can be used in the following 12V target applications: 12V automotive alternators with LIN interface, 12V truck alternators with LIN interface, 12V aftermarket alternators and 12V industrial generators.
Infineon offers the TLE8888QK is the optimal ‘all-in-one-device’ solution in the field of automotive engine management systems and and the TLE8080EM and TLE8088EM for small engines
Rising standards of living, a growing awareness with regards to natural resources and the effects of global warming are driving the shift from mechanical to electronic control systems in the context of small engines usage. One cylinder combustion engines serve the large majority of small conventional vehicles such as motorcycles and three-wheeler that make up a substantial share of the total transport capacity in many developing countries. Other applications being supported by these small engines are gardening equipment, marines and generator set.
Infineon´s motorcycle and small engine management products support modern electronic control systems representing power interfaces in between of microcontrollers and actuators.
Constant current regulation with high accuracy for inductors for automotive applications
Infineon provides a range of constant current drivers for inductive loads for various automotive applications, including but not limited to: Driving solenoids in automatic transmission, active suspension and electronic stability controls. The high accuracy regulators are capable to drive constant currents in up to eight inductors. Whereas each channel current can be programmed individually via SPI interface. On top there are sophisticated monitoring and diagnosis functions to support functional safety concepts. Pre-Drivers with external MOSFETs allow to regulate inductor currents higher than 1.5A.
Infineon´s solution for variable force or constant current controlled solenoids typically used in automatic transmissions, Idle Speed-/ valve- / suspension control or exhaust gas recirculation applications.
Infineon’s System Basis Chips (SBC) offer high integration and high performance at an optimized system cost for various automotive applications, including but not limited to: Body Control Modules, Gateways, Closure Modules (door, roof, tailgater, trailer), Seat Control Modules, Gear Shifter, Fuel Pumps, HVAC, Wireless In-Cabin Charger, Transfer Case, NOx Sensors and Exhaust Modules, Light Control Modules, Water Pumps. Infineon's solutions combine voltage supplies such as LDO or DC-DC with up to 750mA, communication interfaces with CAN transceiver Flexible Data-Rate up to 5Mbit/s according to ISO 11898-2:2016 (including Partial Networking option) and LIN transceiver (LIN2.2/J2602) as well as supervision features (Wake input, Watchdog, Reset, Interrupt, Fail Output).
